Located on the south bank of the Peace River as it joins Charlotte Harbor, 95 miles south of Tampa, this charming community of 17,000 people has been awarded the titles Best Place to Live in the South and One of Florida's Small Town Gems.
Known primarily as a fishing and agricultural center in the first half of the 20th century, Punta Gorda, along with its sister community Port Charlotte, started to develop in the late 1950's. Over the next 30 years the communities of Burnt Store Meadows, Burnt Store Village, Burnt Store Lakes, Burnt Store Marina and Deep Creek were developed each with a sensible set of codes in place along with water, sewer, paved roads and proper infrastructure.
Perhaps the crowning jewels of the area are the two premiere boating communities of Punta Gorda Isles and Burnt Store Isles. Incorporating nearly 6500 home sites on approximately 75 miles of 100' wide waterways with access to Charlotte Harbor and The Gulf of Mexico, these two communities represent waterfront living at its best.
Charlotte Harbor is a federally monitored estuary encompassing about 130 square miles of warm, sheltered water offering some of the finest fishing in the country. Entirely free of large commercial shipping, the harbor has been recognized by Sail Magazine and others as one of America's top sailing venues.
Punta Gorda's historic downtown area is undergoing a Renaissance. New shopping along with fine restaurants are being blended in with the brick paved streets, the restored 90 year old homes and the ancient Banyan trees, giving our wonderful waterside town a personality not found anywhere else.
Blessed with a wonderful climate, Punta Gorda is truly a "Little Piece of Paradise." Contact us, we'll be happy to show you around.
